    The Go-A-Head

Whitespyder Honestly, I thought about getting rid of my Englander. It does use more wood than the new stoves and furnaces out there. Its not epa and not nearly as efficient as those. I get about 3 to 4 gallons of ash out of it every week, and burn between 5 and 7 cord a year. But doggone I...

    Tzed250's Husqvarna 550XP

Sawtroll sorry to disagree and this probably is'nt the topic at this point in the thread but I have a 353 with a 20" bar with .325nk chain and it noodles just fine, sure you have to clear the noodles as you go under the saw but I've never had a problem with jam ups. By the way, my saw is...

    Husqvarna 450

Agree with hdbill. Also always be aware or your surroundings and concious of where the tip of the bar is at all times. Never be in a rush. What looks like could be a bad or dangerous cut, probably is. Look for stress in the tree or limbs. Above all just use your head. Common sense is your best...

    Free Firewood Wanted

All points around Point Pleasant NJ including Brielle has trees piled up in their public parks. Lots and Lots of limbed trunks. Incredible! I've seen pictures. They would probably be happy to have people come and get it.

suggestions on wood stove or outdoor furnace/boilers

I store wood in my house all winter long and have never had a bug infestation problem. If the wood is seasoned well you should'nt have much if any bugs. Heck I've never even seen a bug down where my wood is. There are advantages to an owb no doubt, but the thought of going outside in the bitter...

suggestions on wood stove or outdoor furnace/boilers

I'm interested to why you can't put it in your basement. They don't need much room and as long as you have a flu to a chimney you are good. Putting one in the main living area might be a little more challenging with the air ducts and all but do able. Fan noise may be a little irritating though...

suggestions on wood stove or outdoor furnace/boilers

Englander I too have an Englander wood stove and it is in the basement. My house is about 1500 sq ft and it heats it great all winter on about 5 to 6 cords a winter. Unless you already have an existing forced air furnace you will have to run ducts. Easy to do if you have an unfinished basement...

    new 346xp tips over easy

353 has the same problem but its just as easy to pick it up from the side as the top. Never had problems with it rolling or stallilng. sure do like the thinner profile of that saw though. don't have the tendency to dig the chain into the dirt when picking it up either. Hey its glass half full or...

First time buyer with a $500ish budget. Looking for some guidance.

gotta admit the Makita 6401 is a hard saw to beat for $500. Fine saw as it is and will carry a 20 inch bar no problem. Very easy to mod if you ever want more displacement in the future. I had one and did the 79cc conversion myself. Simple procedure. Dang that thing ran like a scalded dog after...

Forgive me AS members for I have transgressed.......

Hey Shari; Your more important than that darned old wood stove. Good one for hittin the "furnace on" button. Wish I could do that myself sometimes. Its just good to make sure they still work now and then.

to pipe or not to pipe

thanks for the good advice guys. I can see how a pipe would be a lot heavier than a muffler. muffler mods are pretty loud though. In the end there is no replacement for displacement.

    Chinese chainsaw

bcoverss; looks like you need some ripping chain for that saw, might be a little faster!

to pipe or not to pipe

to pipe or not to pipe

Just wondering what you guys think. I'm not much of a poster but a faithful reader. I have a Husky 353 that has been Walkerized, just wondering if a pipe would add that much more performance. I know I should have gotten a 346 NE, but they came out a year after the 353 was purchased. Love the saw...

    who hauls w/ a 4 cyl pickup?

those 22re engines on those older yotas were indestructable. I've got one with 215 thousand miles on it, used hard and still going strong. Body is still in pretty good shape to. They must have done something by that time that kept them from rusting out so badly. Its an 89 and sure gets around...

    Toyotas in the Woods

Have a 89 yota with 210,000 very hard miles on it, that truk has been overloaded more times than not with 2 cubes of brick, hundreds of blocks through the years. and wood, lots of wood. It has never let me set. those 22re motors are the standard of the industry. It gets around in my back yard...

    Used wood burner advice

375 is a good deal for that stove if it only takes some fire brick replacement and paint. It has an 850 cfm blower which should do fine if you don't have too long a distance to go with the hot air. Everyone is different but I start mine and leave the bottom door open for about 10 to 15 min. Get...
