Ice Fishing with a chain saw?

IIRC you should run vegetable oil as a chain & bar lube instead of regular petroleum based bar oil. Bob

    Considering hiring a firewood processor

BPS, lighten up a bit. I have no intent on hiring an illegal alien. Pardon the cynicism after watching a couple of episodes of "Border Wars" Bob

    Considering hiring a firewood processor

Thanks for the offers and comments. I can whittle away at the project. I was looking to see if hiring or renting a processor would be a economical alternative. Searching on Craigslist has come up empty so far. My splitter is pretty efficient. Combined with the conveyor, material handling...

    Considering hiring a firewood processor

Here is my stack and current setup. Works pretty well; Regarding the barberchair, guilty as charged. It was in a difficult location and the wind was against me. I cut my notch and wedged the felling cut but could not overcome the wind. Even tried to time it with a lull in the...

    Considering hiring a firewood processor

I have considered that. It would be great to have a gang here. I have plenty of space, wood to cut, and a shop to keep everything going. Campfire, a big pot of chili, maybe even a beer or two. Does not get much better than that! Is there interest in such a GTG? I am not looking for...

    Considering hiring a firewood processor

Yes the truck has the old powerstroke 7.3 engine. A load like this makes it work. Fortunately I do not have to haul very far and there are no scales around The tractor is a Case 580SK with 4 in one bucket, 4WD, extendahoe, and a cab. It is a wonderful and capable piece of equipment. Bob

    Considering hiring a firewood processor

I have a stack of good, straight, 12-24 inch logs up to 30 ft long that I want turned into firewood. I am considering hiring someone with a mobile processor to come to my place, saw and split about 10 cords (est). I am in central Illinois, are there any mobile units in the area that would be...

    2-man saw thread

I have run into some people that feel that if someone is interested, it must have value. Therefore: 1. any offer I get is too low 2. This buyer is trying to take advantage of me 3. If I keep it longer it will be worth more 4. I am going to fix it up someday. Not to mention...

    2-man saw thread

I know where a DA211 Bow saw is. Cannot get the owner to part with it. It is original and is rusting away in his shed. He will never touch it. Bob

Scott, Yes, sadly there have been accidents there. It is a big event and it has been said that 10% of all the airplanes in the world will be in that area that week. Bob

Hi Guys. I am Mattoon, over by Lake Paradise. Home shop gotten out of control and lots of stuff here. Latest project is the restoration of a Lister 12-2 slow speed diesel engine. Oshkosh is a big EAA Fly in going on that week. I have tentative plans to be up there, taking a friend that...

    Da 211

I have not had any problems with plug fowling. Now, let me clarify what I'm doing here. I do not use my saws for cutting (yet), only demonstration at engine shows. Most shows get nervous if there are chain saw demonstrations so I run them for people to see and hear but do not cut. I use the...

    Da 211

There should be no need to split the tank open. The filter unscrews out the bottom of the tank at the fuel pipe connection. No rubber in the tank unless someone dropped something in at some time. Bob

    Da 211

Great looking KA211 Saw NMURPH, May I suggest that you pick up a set of ignition coils for it. After 50 years the OEM coils crack and begin to fail. With fresh coils and good points and condensors, they will start by the second pull and purr like a kitten! Bob

    Stihl polesaw...BAD vibrations

I learned an expensive lesson with my pole saw. I had a friend "helping" me who, thru carelessness, bent my Stihl Polesaw. It was about a $350 repair as I recall. It's been a couple of years. I had to eat the repair cost. Now. NO ONE TOUCHES THE POLESAW other than me. Bob

    Disston

As Bill stated, their are a well built, well engineered machine. Restoration is straightforward and should be within the reach of any skilled mechanic. Plan on new coils, points, and condensors at a minimum. The carb responds well to a thorough cleaning. Often the handle bars need...
