who uses a car trailer for firewood?

When I built my trailer, I found some rectangular tubing that was the right size for a 2x4 to slip into and cut 4" long pieces and welded them to the sides of the trailer every 2 feet. Works great.

    Heatmor Drama....

Because most of the air from the draft blower comes out in the front, the wood and coals burn out there first. I rake the unburned wood and coals to the front and then add more wood. There is also air that comes up through the grates that can get blocked off by ashes and dead coals. Try...

    Your first?

First saw ran was a Remington MityMite with a 12" bar in 1975 that my dad bought at Grants on clearance for $66. We cut enough wood to heat our house for 2 years with that little saw before we got another one just like it used for $25. The first saw I bought was a Stihl 017 I used to cut beams...

    All Around Best Firewood

I vote for free. Seriously, hickory is pretty good. Have not really burned that much oak because there is not that much where I cut. This year I have about 80% cherry which is okay and smells good, but doesn't throw the heat or coals that hickory does.

    10x10 holzhausen

"Holzhauser, a pot shard of Ka KA" or an urban myth, to be polite. It is in Germany or anywhere else not used. The man is right. The so-called H ² is a waste of time, is pretty, is difficult to remove from fuelwood, and is a pile. .. no more. Now I am not too opinionated. thanks to Google...

    Axles

One thing to check if you do use house trailer axles is the grease seals on some were made of hard plastic and were meant as a one way one time deal. Not good for a lot of miles. I think they can be replaced with the neoprene type seal. I would want to repack the bearings anyway. If you are...

    Plate exchanger hook up?

I have a sidearm heat exchanger hooked to a 50 gal. LP water heater. The sidearm is basically a tube in a tube. The inside tube runs from the drain line on the water heater up to the outlet side of the water heater. This tube is surrounded by a larger tube that the water from the OWB...

    Plate exchanger hook up?

The water circulates by thermosiphon. No need for a pump.

    Plate exchanger hook up?

One reason it is recommended to run from the OWB to the water heater first is it gives you a storage buffer to continue to supply hot water to the heat exchanger if the fire gets low or goes out.

    Heatmor firebrick upgrade

Yes, it is a model 200. The firebrick I used were 4.5" wide by 9" long and 2" thick. It takes four on each side. That leaves a 1.5" gap between the new bricks and the existing bricks on the sides. I was originally going to put 1.5" pieces I cut in this gap, but there is a lip at the bottom...

    Heatmor firebrick upgrade

After running my Heatmor for three winters, I decided to add some firebrick to the sides on top of the sand to keep the sides level with the grate. My goal was to make it easier to rake the ashes onto the grate without digging out the sand. As a side benefit, I hope the brick will reflect and...

    Shaver OWB questions

Sorry, but I don't have a Shaver and have not seen one around this area. My Heatmor has all of those if you count the auger for the ashes. The thermostat on mine goes right into the water jacket. The fan switch also turns on a light which is nice to see by and gives you a visual reminder to...

    Troy Built log splitter?

It could be the lovejoy coupling is loose on the shaft or the rubber spider is bad.

    FYI - Northern Chainsaw Sharpener

I got mine today. The box was pretty beat up, but everything was there. The only bad thing was the knob that tightens the vise is cracked. It will probably work as is, but I am going to send an email and see if they will replace it. I used the suggestions from Butch in the other post and...

    FYI - Northern Chainsaw Sharpener

The next boat from China has arrived! I waited around and ordered one after they were out of stock.:( The website gave a notice that it would be 30 days before they would get more in. Then today, I got an e-mail that it had been shipped. Here I was kind of bummed that it was going to...

Muffler Mod : 066 with pics

I made my own version of the dual port cover. I didn't modify the box inside, yet... I thought I'd go in stages and see if I could see improvements from each step. I made the holder for the spark screen to hold a stock screen for the 066. I left the slot in the front open for now. I wasn't...

    Outdoor wood furnace??/

I have a Heatmor that I have been using since Dec. 2005. It has not had any problems. If your neighbors are very close, you may have trouble with the smoke. When a burning cycle first starts, it smokes alot! When it is not burning, it hardly smokes at all. If you open the door with much...

    Poulan muffler mods 3750 330 305 220

My first car was a 1969 Opel Kadett coupe. Paid $90 for it and the insurance cost me $100. Drove it about 6 months with a bungee cord to hold it in 4th gear.
