    Chipper or splitter?

What's the big deal with the big dogs?

Same thing as a 700hp Dodge Charger.

    The Perfect Gas Can…

I have two and am happy with them. The nozzles broke a few years ago and they replaced them free. I especially like the wide mouth.

I have a big bore Kit for my Dolmar 6401 - Anyone recognize it?

Can't help with ID but I installed one from Baileys on my 6401 a few years ago and am very pleased with the results.

Any idea what type of red oak this is?

Pretty wood. I'm surprised to see the amount of spalting in the center. I would prepare to install some bowties as they dry. They will almost certainly crack in a couple years.

Why 13/64 on Stihl 404 chain?

    7/32 on my 404 chains.

Quick and easy compression relief - on-off pull knob fix

When you're dealing with high compression saws, it's easier on the starter and the operator. Wish my Homelite 1050 had one. My Mac 125 would be nearly impossible to start without one.

Carb hissing noise when engine is off

Sounds like fuel pressure is building inside the tank from residual or excessive heat and forcing past the needle valve in the carb. That would cause flooding and hard starting. Have you tried removing the fuel cap to see if it stops? What fuel are you using?

    Chain guage ?

As long as you are using the correct chain for the bar and sprocket (look at the specs on the end of the bar), you're good. You will be fine using 3/8" /.050 chain on both saws. I run it on my 361/20", Makita 8400BB/28" and Mac SP 125/36". EDIT - I misspoke, the SP 125 has 3/8 x .063 chain...

    I did a thing!

I saw one that looked like someone used a steel rod in the exhaust port - not good.

    I did a thing!

Yes, should have been more clear - that is what I use.

    I did a thing!

The one thing I learned on this site thar I wish I had known earlier was to use a piston stop (rope) when tightening clutch and flywheel nuts. You should be fine with the 20"bar, just don't push it, keep the chain sharp and let the saw feed itself into the wood.

Finishing a cut with a different saw

Only if the first saw didn't make it to the barbed wire fence or rock embedded in the tree.

Chain locks up, smoke from clutch, chain and bar suddenly super-tight

Had this exact thing happen on a 268. The oil hole on the bar kept getting plugged and no oil to the chain. I cleaned the mounting area, oil hole and bar slot real good and problem stopped.

    Stihl ms500i flooding issue

Does the saw still depend on an impulse to pressurize the fuel? Maybe the tank vent is plugged?

    346 XP NE seize

Ouch. Curious about the impression of the intake on the piston. Was the saw modded?

    Survivor trees

What kind of tree is it?

    Survivor trees

Looks like a tragedy in the making. If I were the property owner, I would at least rope off the area underneath the branches.

    Johnson's wax

How about mineral oil? I use a mix of it and beeswax on my cutting boards.
