    Preference in Wood Burning Species?

Well me, I prefer to burn Red Alder, Doug Fir and Black Walnut. I am into falling about another 18-20 Red Alders that will yield about 16 cords or so. So we will be good for next year.  :angry2:

    Splitting maul

I bought something similar to that at Home Depot about 6 months ago. I paid 30 bucks I think. Mine has a Red Resin handle and I love it. I have split about 12 cords or so with it and my other mauls and wedges.

    Pic of my splitting Sunday...

Wow!! Nice job, looks good. I myself am getting ready to split up 2 100ft Fir trees already cut into rounds. I am doing it all with my mauls and my son. Fir splits really easy, good straight grained wood kinda like Red Alder. After the Fir I have about 2 cords of Cherry to do....fun fun!!:bang...

    Splitting WOOD

Yeah I find the good old 8 pounder works just fine. I did buy a 6 pound maul with a wedge face on it and it works great. I picked it up at Lowes for 20 I think. Good investment for me!!:blob2:

How is Maple to burn / split?

:chainsaw: Yeah, that does sound like big leaf maple. Not too bad to split, but I would let it dry for awhile and then split it. It will save you some choice words for the wood...:censored: :censored: LOL!!

    Splitting WOOD

:monkey: Well I guess I am just a dumb mule then. I prefer the good old maul and wedge route myself. I probably do around 12-16 cords a year. We have a wood stove as well as a fireplace. My son and I do all of the work, good for bonding. Although....he is getting rather large arms:jawdrop...
