Usually run a 24 on both a 440 and a 359, full comp chain. Not a problem in softwoods. Generally stay under 24" on the 440 and under 20" on the 359. If you don't have to carry the saw all day, better to go with a larger saw.

Get the dual port cover. Andy posted the part number a while back. I ordered one and the 440 runs noticeably better. A plus is the screen for cutting on restricted lands.

Lucky.. It happens. Lack of attention. I once put a saw back together, finger tightened the nuts and I thought I tightened them. I guess I only tightened one. After testing the saw, there was one nut missing. Fortunately it wasn't mine. Now I try and remember to check the nuts frequently.

It would be nice to get one of those. Looks good. With those high winds, hope you use a lot of diagonal bracing. jaxx

Just wondering, how do you keep your saw so clean? You have probably already checked the alignment of your sprocket and the rails. Also, on one bar I have, one of the sprockets appears to be off, at one position, the chain is snug, at another position (moving the chain), the chain is not...

346 or 357?? Get both. They will both pay for themselves in no time if your selling what you cut. Everyone likes the 361 too, but I wonder about the vibration between the 361 and the 357. Is there any difference? Watch out for the CAT muffler. Picked up a new 346, it had no CAT muffler...

Yup, avoid cutting trees on windy days. They do rebound, bind your blade, etc. Also old hung up branches tend to fall. During windy season I cut them down early before the winds pick up. Then there is fire danger sometimes.

Perhaps outside of this site, the Dolmar name is not that well recognized yet. You Dealers that sell more than one line, how many Dolmars's do you sell for every one Husky or Sthil sold? Is Dolmar on GSA Contract?

Hi. I also run the 359 and 440. The 372 from Bailey's seems like a very good choice for the $$. No problems with the 359 after I swapped mufflers. Runs kind of slow in aged dry oak tho. Also consider that there have been some posts here on the 361 oiler. I don't think the Husky will have a...
