New tree show on TLC tonight

Just watched the Saw for Hire on his web site What a joke, if this guy doesn't't end up killing someone or dumping his crane on its side it will be short of a miracle. The 2 episode's on his web site showed him taking down a large oak that should have taken 1 1/2-2 days rather than the 3...

    Brooks Climbers

New Climbers I have both the Brooks and Bashlins. The Bashlins are alot lighter and more confortable than the Brooks. Bashlins flair out some at the ankle like the Brooks, but not sure how much. Got the Brooks here at home and Bashlins on the crane at the shop. Look for some good used ones for...

    Brooks Climbers

Not sure but I think Brooks is no longer in business. Have not seen any in any catalogs for several years/3-4. May be time to upgrade to some new ones.

    job descriptions?

No job descriptions needed, just job titles. Everyone needs to know what his/her role is. And then they need to know who the director/foreman is. This person need not be the most experienced, but the person with whom you can trust to get the job done and understands what you want done and how...

    Cranes and OSHA

Ritchie try this web site. www.********/pdf/mar07-cb.pdf Print a copy for your crane co., good info and pic.s. And if all else fails, like John Paul said the ANSI Z-133.1. However if you follow this to the letter you will never get anything done without proper paper work and the tree is...

    Crane question.

tree md - 15 ton is all you really need. I'm not the owner, just the operator. Big machines are nice however they just don't fit into as many places as the 15 ton I use. It's got 68ft of main and a 23ft jib, at 68 @ 80* I've got 80ft of reach and with the jib on it's 100ft @ the same angle. We...

Got a new pair of Triple Thick T-Pads and new upper straps to go with them. Haven't got to try them out yet, been standing on the crane operating. Hope to get to use them after the 1st of the year working with one of the other op's doing removals. :givebeer: Happy New Year to All, climb high...

    Is this totally insane?

but if the $2300 oak removal is now only worth $1700, what's the point of making the extra equipment payments?" we are one of the co's that have and keep getting all the big stuff and yes we can do it for less $$ then a small co and when they are out doing the $2300 oak removal we are...

changing light bulbs in parking lots

The company I work for does this. They charge by the hour with a 4 hr. min. and whoever we do the work for provides the lights and a diagram of what ones they want changed. Also don't forget airplane hangers just did one a couple weeks back, for the better part of a day. That was a good one too...

Have a cheaper price, but he won't come back

Magnum783 I have to disagree with 3/4 year of work for IN, mostly the same weather as here in NW Ohio. Unless your buddy lives in South Bend or Gary, with lots of lake effect snow fall. We loose 2-3 days out of the year due to weather be it snow/ice or rain. We have some companies that lay...

    climbing ash tree

Ash trees aren't to bad as long as it isn't so dead, its falling apart. Just like any other tree you just need to be careful and mind your tie in point. We do several Ash trees a week due to EAB here in NW Ohio. :greenchainsaw:

    Crane / Man Basket Question

diltree, I know you would have rode them out. But thats a whole nother story for some of these guys. In this case it takes one to know one. LOL Not many guys will ride em out. Sounds like they did just fine though, got it done safe. Thats what counts. Good job teamtree.

    Crane / Man Basket Question

teamtree, why not rent an all terrain man lift? It is probably cheaper and in my opinion safer. I have talked with other climber/operators in the past about the use of man baskets. No one seems to like it. You can do like diltree said as well, as long as the climber who will be doing this is...

    morbark 2400

Check your chipper knives, if they are to dull, you will plug the chute no matter what you try to chip. Also make sure that the RPMs are at the right speed. Good luck, hope this helps.

    Bidding a grinding job

I would price these stumps at $2.00 per inch plus the cost of all new teeth for the stump machine. Also does your price include cleanup or is it grind and leave the mess? If there is cleanup on larger stumps like you described there is a lot of time involved in the cleanup and disposal. And like...
