036 build

I am new to the site. I pick up a project saw that has become more of a project. I rebuild my ms290 into a ms390 last year I was wanting a 2nd saw to go with it and to do some small milling. This 036 pro needs a new cylinder and piston. I plan to port this one more than the last one. I measured squish at .034 with no gasket. I would perfer to run a gasket. What would be a moderate squish? I plan to get my port timing before a cut anything just to see where its at some of the ports are a bit rough especially their bevel. My case halves dont really line up. Would you all blend them to match?
