i know this is going to be a long shot, but does anyone out there have any 048 or 042 parts for sale? Case gasket, oil seals mainly. I am open to anything in the 1117 series. Whatcha got?

Gotta a rim kit no bearing listed here by Oregon. Know where there is a good parts saw that may start. But the weak parts will be the seals and gaskets

Yep those weak parts seem to be the ones that are hard to find. I just did and complete bottom end of an 048 last weekend. The case gasket on those saws are known to blow out due to the vibrations loosening the case bolts. Which, is what happen to last weekends saw. I didn't think before using my last gasket to make a template from some gasket material. I have a rim kit sitting in a box in the garage ready to.

I have some nos parts 1117 let me grab them what's all on the list? No case gasket but lots of others

That is a good bit of parts. Is there an oil line or 2 in there? Impulse lines? Switch shaft? I am interested in what you got in there.

The switch shaft is one of the hardest parts to come by- 1117 182 0900.

Come to think of it you're right. I haven't seen one of those ever. I am pretty sure I still have one somewhere but a replacement is always great to have.

i spoke with my stihl dealer today and he spoke to the distributor and the seals are still in inventory just gotta ask them. that was mid east speaking

oil seals, if the oil seals are still handled why not the gasket. i have found that they need to message the warehouse for the parts that dont show up in the dealer screen. dont ask me why, it is just an observation. my dealer said he had nothing, then he did, by message.

Good info I will bring that up next time my dealer tells me they are NLA.

I have complete 042"s
I'll stick with the 048 stuff. I know most parts can fit both 042 and 048s though. I have got both my 048s back in action now. I am always looking for good 048 parts at a decent price of course.
