at the gtg its mostly oak we were cutting... quite hard.

at my place I mill mostly pine with my bandsaw sawmill....

We have oak, Madrone and maple over here but mostly Cedar, Fir and Pine. Soft wood is a lot more fun to cut.

I'm a dentist...and yes...those tools are handy.

What prompted such a teardown ? what kind of time is on the saw?

I am not a dentist, but I have been using dental tools for years, I get them from several local dentists when they buy new stuff, they work great for cleaning small grooves on any machine....the best thing is they are incredibly strong and don't break like the cheap steel stuff you buy from tool dealers.
