42/ 242xp cylinder options?

Have any of you guys used the lil Red barn or tecomec piston and cylinder kits off eBay? Both look to be closed port.
I would typically buy OEM, but my only option is the factory open port setup. Wasn't sure if there were any real gains to be had with the tecomec.

The tecomec I've seen have been on par with OEM. Is that how yours is? And yours is a closed port?

I got one of the Tecomec closed port kits. The piston and cylinder are superb, hands down as nice as OEM or nicer. Good port shape, excellent beveling. I haven't installed, so I can't tell you squish or timing #'s.

I once was "informed" that Tecomec is an OEM cylinder/piston supplier for Emak/Efco/Oleomac - but don't remember the source and don't really know how true it is?

I am wondering if Tecomec aquires the OEM castings or molds after a period of time (after production of a model has ended), and produces them under their name.
