I received 3 old bridge timbers and milled off the 'rind' to help sell them. While cleaning up, I decided to try and sell the offal. I roughly cut it all into 2 foot long pieces then listed it on craigslist as "Craft/Art Rustic Slabs" for $3 each in small quantity or $2 each for large quantity. 30 pieces were sold in the next 4 hours and 2 people have made appointments to buy today! That will more than pay for resharpening of the 4 blades dulled in the milling :)

I have several hundred feet of 6"X 1"X 16' Oak fence boards. They look a lot like your off cuts. I make display boards for Lionel trains out of them. Lots of folks like any of that old Oak. photobucket is being stupid again. I'll try to post pics in a bit, Joe.

Good to hear about this.
I made the initial mistake of giving the offal away and word soon got around and every tyre kicker and his dog was calling up and wanting some.
My milling spot is 18 miles (30 minute) from my place and it was costing me too much in gas and time dealing with with these jokers so now I've stopped doing this and it all ends up in the woodchipper.

My farmer friend sold 10 acres off her farm and the new owner wants to take down 300 yards of 16' X 6" X 1 1/4" Oak fencing, 5 boards high. Should be enough to last the rest of my life. Although, I was thinking of planing some down and putting it in my cabin for flooring, Joe.

I charge $10 a blade for sharpening. $5 for setting.

I rounded up all our blades about a month ago and sorted them out. Sharpened about 300 of them.
