Mark: Them PP engine recoil starters are often reversible for direct drive or gear drive engines. Mostly just flop the rewind spring and switch the starter pawl.

I had a Hoffco 480 someone put together the starter wrong and the seller couldn't get it to run. Imagine that.

New here.my name is Mark.i have a super 44A I was going to restore but just don't have the time.its missing the air filter cover.can anyone tell me the approximate worth of the saw
 
Odd . . . . . I like it! The engine turning on the "bar" is a nice touch.
 
Apparently, Companion was swallowed by Husky shortly after the MS2 came out in the early 60's. From what I can tell, it's a well-liked saw and parts can still be found. This particular saw is coming from Sweden but I really don't have the details on background. If I find anything, I'll post it.
