Mark: Them PP engine recoil starters are often reversible for direct drive or gear drive engines. Mostly just flop the rewind spring and switch the starter pawl.

I had a Hoffco 480 someone put together the starter wrong and the seller couldn't get it to run. Imagine that.

Have this one on the way to me from Sweden. Jobu Junior. 76 cc. 1 owner saw, purchased new in 1955 by a farmer in rural Sweden. Was a significant investment in 1955 and said to be quite well taken care of.

Have a Companion MS2 on the way -- it's a Swedish company, 78 cc's, introduced in 1961. Needs a good cleaning and some TLC...

Thanks for sharing that picture of the Companion. Those I don't think ever made it to the US, and I know nothing of them. Care to share any more about its history? Looks like a Partner oil cap on it.

Apparently, Companion was swallowed by Husky shortly after the MS2 came out in the early 60's. From what I can tell, it's a well-liked saw and parts can still be found. This particular saw is coming from Sweden but I really don't have the details on background. If I find anything, I'll post it.
