Anyone else run across these?
Bark similar to a cottonwood but the trees are much smaller, usually topping out around 16-18" dbh by me. Waxy/shiny leaf similar in shape to aspen.
I've only found these in the far north areas where I cut. Always growing in clay/very wet soil.
They split extremely easily by hand. Seems to be a little lighter than aspen when dried but still burns a lot better than balsam fir or cedar.
