bandit 250 chipper problems!!!

at high idle it shuts off!! clutch disengaged or engaged doesn't matter. it will run fine while in low or medium rpms but as soon as i switch it too high rpms it bogs up and down twice or once and then either lowers rpms by itself or dies completely! i did a oil change thinking maybe it was oil pressure problems due to old oil.nope. next step is fuel filter. im waiting for it now. any ideas would be appreciated and thank you in advance

Is it blowing any smoke?

Is it diesel, what brand engine, and what vintage/year? It could be one of many things causing this problem.

Jon, did you ever find out what was going on with your chipper. I am currently having the same issue, and when I searched for it, what you described was exactly what I am dealing with. Any insight would be appreciated.
