Anyone know what kind of beetle this is? Or more specifically how cautious should I be before putting the pieces this guy was on near my currently not infested stack.

He's about 1/4" long, backside is brownish red with the two dots. Rest of him is black.
Can't get any more pictures of'm. Moved on to a better place, or rather, he's in the same place just a little flatter.

It is almost like a lady bug, but just thinner than all the other that I've seen. I found another one and took a closer look; they don't appear to be equipped to bore into wood, so I'm no longer concerned.
