I'll go as far as latex paint on my endgrain before I mill, but that is mostly for ID'ing the timber after I cut it for customers.

Thompson Waterseal is on my fence in the backyard?

I use the non-toxic bug spray they make. Works great at cookouts, spray down the table and no flies.
