Getting ready to pull the trigger on a new F550 & am having a custom chipper top built. From the research I've done, 11 ga. steel for the topper seems pretty good - what do you think? Everyone recommends vents on a chip box but our current top (wooden) doesn't have vents & there's not much blowback of chips. Do yall have & recommend vents?

Don't bother cutting vents, we have solid aluminum boxes, they're watertight, no vents, never have an issue with blowback. In my experience All the vents will do is let dust out to cover your cab/equipment/etc.

11 gauge aught to be plenty. That's all that my floor of my dump beds are. Well maybe 10 gauge, but about the same.
