Hi, my G555b will arrive in two days. I've been trying to think of the best mounting material for the rail. I know they state to use a 2X6. I was thinking about something more stable like a home made "lam board".
Plywood strips cut on the table saw and glued together. It would be stable and straight.
Am I over thinking this?

I'm also considering ordering additional 2' sections of the "V" rails. Do I need to make a longer guide board or is it simple to move the board down the log for longer cuts?

It's a simple matter of weight....not of the guide board, but of the slab you cut.

Have you ever tried moving a 25' long, 3" thick slab that's 24" across?
