i have an old husqvarna 65L that i'm not sure when it was made it has a silver plate on it above the fuel tank that reads;

**********************************
husqvarna AB patrica 65 ass 0650 170112
**********************************

1.70.112
does the last 6 digits mean month, year and unit number
1......first month
70.....1970
112....one hundred and twelfth unit made
am i on the right track?

I really don't know

Someone in an older post asked about this serial number
99 1600174 all on a black metal label

And Sawtroll who's very knowledgeable replied

"That is one of the first ones, from 1999 week 16."

Now that's a newer Husky, I don't know if they've changed their serial number meanings, but if they haven't you've got an older saw than you thought you did. edited here to say, They must have changed their numbering Your idea of 1970 sounds much more reasonable.. an old thread on that saw that was recently resurrected is here.. http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=21152&page=1

I'm sure someone will be along to give you a more definitive answer.

it's a 65L and my father bought it new well back in the 1970's. a husky agent of 30yrs experience made a guess at what i put on the start of this thread.
