Hi guys
I am new to the forum, checking in from Ireland.
I do some wood-turning and use a Husqvarna 395XP for cutting timber. It has been hard to start for a while and the starter was jamming sometimes, anyway the starter locked up and it has a broken starter pulley. 'No problem' I thought, 'I'll Fleabay this and have it fixed in a few days' . I ordered a part from Greece and it arrived promptly. It clearly states it is for a 395XP, it is exactly the same as this one here

However it is nothing like what I have. So I start looking for starter assemblies and I discover that my starter assembly (complete with cover, pulley and cord) is different to every other one I see on the web. Strangely my cover even has the model number on it!

This is my starter inside and out:

This is what is being offered on all of the sites I have viewed:

So as you can see it is a totally different beast!

Has the Guinness got the better of me?

Help!!
Thanks ;-)

Please post up a full pic of your saw...The assembly that you have looks like a really bad knock off....I also see you have ''something'' above the fuel filler that is not on most saws??? The saw does not match the sticker or vice versa

Hi guys, just getting back to this. That's worrying about the possibility of a copy...mmm...maybe I need more Guinness! Okay, I'll get a pic of it tomorrow and post it up. To be honest it certainly feels and performs like a quality product, which if Husqvarna saws are anything like their motorcycles are!
Thanks again...I'll be back with the info.
Cheers,

Hi guys, thanks for the help with this problem. I have gone throgh all the parts lists for starters on all of the 395XP models listed on Czech_Mades list
https://www.jackssmallengines.com/jacks-parts-lookup/husqvarna-model-locator.aspx
and it looks like I have indeed got a very 'unique' starter, perhaps even a very 'unique' Husqvarna! yes, it looks like a rip-off of a Husqy...what a shame, I'm gutted.
Anyhow, I will try to repair the starter and get what use I can from this heap of junk..
Thanks again!
