So, what's the largest recommended bar for milling with a ported Husky 394xp? Right now I've got a 36 and it does fine with that. Will it take a 48? Most of what I mill (so far) has been hardwood (oak, hackberry, maple). I'm looking at selling my 42" PantherMill II and maybe getting a 48" Granberg. Crossposted in the chainsaw forum too.

Thanks, BobL! That's kind of what I figured--based upon reading various threads on the forums here, but thought I'd ask anyway (being a newbie).

I have a 395xp with the granberg 36" mill. I think the bar is 52". I just cut a big maple and had to work the far end(handle)around the curves to get it through. The saw didn't have any problem.

P.S. not all 52 inches is in the wood with this set up.

Ted, I'm glad CSM is on the list of things to do after your surgery. Are you using the .404 pitch chain, does that bog down the saw?

Thanks,
Garrit
