Funny how some rules in some parts of the world become the opposite in others. I was always told to "Keep the damn livestock outa the forest" if you want sound, disease-free multi-aged and sustainable forests. The grazing and soil compaction are tough on the northern species.

I guess the key word here is multiaged and sustainable. I suppose that they are plantations that are well established before the critters are allowed in, and they plan to regenerate the area artificially after harvest.
