View attachment 537010 View attachment 537009 Hey guys, I just picked up a beam saw (Makita 16-5/16 circular saw). I bought it to cut the live edges off my slabs. Does anyone else use these for milling projects? I'm just curious on any other uses? Thanks
Lovely Like to have one meself. I just use 1x3 aluminum guide for my ms 170 with something similar to the beam cutting guide which clamps on the bar. works but leaves much rougher edge than your saw will. If I'm lucky a similar saw'l show up in an upcoming auction.

What are you using slabs for? We sell them for firewood. Some people have bought bundles (around a cord worth) for fencing or siding. Not sure how it turned out though.
The slabs we have are fairly thin as we try to get as much lumber as possible from a log. Maybe 2" or so at the thickest part.

Definitions vary. My "slabs" have been 3"x26" x120" quarter sawn white oak at one time. seemed like a slab of wood 2 me. I get you are used to a use that indicates the waste fro lumber.

I use Bigfoot, it's a 10-1/4" worm gear I picked up for $350 barely used on fleabay.
