Just seen this chainsaw mill setup on Craigslist. Looks like a good buy. Any input on quality? Looks like it has extra sections to mill a 18' log 30" diameter. It is about 3 hours away. $500

I don't have a chainsaw with a 36" bar, but may pick up a John Deere CS-71 this weekend with a 33". Not sure if that will be big enough power wise, can always pick up a bigger bar.

Thanks for your input!!

Chainsaw mill. Asking $500 Paid over $1400

I just don't have time for it. Works great to cut your own lumber. I have it set up to cut up to 18' logs and 30" diameter.

requires a chainsaw with at least a 36" bar

For the $$ I dont think you can go wrong...Ten or so logs and it will easily pay for itself..
I cannot comment on the quality but pantherpro guy seems to make a good product from what I have read/seen...

I have a ported 371xp and I would not put a 36" bar on it for bucking let alone milling. The mill is an awesome deal but I would shop for a bigger saw. I mill with a ported 394xp with a 42" bar and it eats everything I feed it. Check the trading post on this site, some great deals on some great saws, but get that mill before its gone first!

Hi Tla
I have that exact mill but not the extra track and I run it all day two days a week.

For that price Jump on it! There are some querks to this mill but there are with any mill chainsaw or bandsaw.

I love mine and I am not easy on it.

As far as the power head, don't skimp, a used big saw is better than a new mid size saw.

I have the Dolmar PS-9010 on mine and use a Dolmar 7900 when I am cutting smaller logs, 12" diameter and under

Don't buy a bar until you get the mill, Mine needed a 42" bar and I made a new bar tip guard for it to sccount for the long nose. I have a 37" bar and it was too short.

If you want a mill, can afford the price, and can afford to get a big saw, the short answer is, get it!

My 42" panther pro 2 was poorly assembled. Required re-fitting and welding. When I called, the guy I spoke to said he had the flu last week and his father passed away. Sorry for your loss, I'll fix it on my own. Funny thing though, I had purchased the mill a month and a half earlier when he wasn't sick and the old man was still kickin'. Sounded like the "Dog ate my homework" to me.
