I have several pecan trees that are about 35 years old.
One is a native and the other was grafted with a paper shell variety.
They use to produce great fat meaty pecans. But the last 10 years they put on lots of pecans but the meat is all dried up and the shells are generally hollow. The trees look healthy and are growing fine.

Any ideas on whats going on?

If in doubt get a soil test done, I know many a folks with apple trees up in New England that don't realize that the trees need lime as the soil is acid. Look around and see if your state has cooperative extension service and contact them for help. Its usually free and they usually know their stuff
