piston scoring

hey guys just wondering when u get scoring on the intact and exhaust what is that caused from . I Know straight gas is there any other ways?

Scoring on the intake side usually points to ingestion of dirt, sand, grit etc.

Exhaust only- lean tune or air leak
Exhaust and Intake- straight gassed
Intake only- ingestion of foreign material

These are general guidelines...there are all sorts of variations and degrees. Diagnosis is a large part experience and sleuthing.

I just pulled apart a saw that's a good combo of options 2 and 3 from above.
