Before I give the ok for it to go live, wanted some feedback... Not sure if Paul Bunyan is a common enough figure that most would know? The radio station had "I'm no caveman" which didn't really make sense to me.

I grew up two hours from one of the many towns that claim Paul Bunyan as their own so everyone around here knows the name.

I'd be curious to see how much this helps your sales.

Maybe tell them how good it is to be in paul bunyan country now, and that he will take care of you this winter and keep you warm. Hard work doesn't bother his back, as he's been doing this a long time, and knows how to stay warm here. All you have to do is call and he'll be there to take of you with good, seasoned, wood.

3 years ago I ran a radio ad, ended up having to cancel it, I was having to turn people away as I was 2-3 months out on orders, even with doing 20-30 cords a week.

Then maybe add something to the tune of "Be sure to make your order while supplies last."

Or, at the very end:
(announcer) "Don't be left out in the cold breaking your back."
(sound of ax splitting into wood)
(man groans in agony) Oooooh!

Fixed.

Since you use a processor, maybe add something about custom lengths if that's something you would do?

I learned a fast lesson about advertising a few years ago. throwing ads out to the general public has little effect. target your ads to folks that can use your services and you will have more business than you can handle. Not sure how to target firewood sales, but it was pretty easy when I had my hydroseeding business. I went to the building inspectors office and asked for a list of all the licensed builders. I fixed up a trifold brochure listing the services I offered and included a business card. I mailed the brochure to all the builders and realestate brokers in my area. I found that folks will throw away the brochure, but they tend to keep the business card just in case they might need your services later on. My business went up by a factor of about 6 almost overnite. Another thing I did with mixed results was ad flyers inside newspapers, my wife delivered papers and often I would ride with her and roll up the papers to fit in the paper boxes. If we where delivering to a house that was doing remodeling, I would slip my flyer inside their news paper. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didnt, but the cost of a flyer was pretty minimal. I did radio ads, Yellow pages, and listings in the local paper, but I had no way of measuring just how effective those methods where, but my gut feeling was it wasnt worth the cost of the ads. Nothing I tried worked as well as the brochure/business card mailing to a audience that could use my services over and over again. Homeowners, when it comes to hydroseeding are pretty much a one time customer, builders and realestate folks are always needing work done. Do them a good job and they will call you for every house they build. You have to get your name out there somehow, you just have to find the methods that works for you.

We have never advertised on the radio, but have never sold firewood. Just fixin appliances.

In your area, I would say it is a decent add, although, if you live u there you woulda thunk they could figure out how to heat their house if heatin with wood. I don't know if i would customize wood length, unless you get a few short length requisite. Let her rip on the processor and go to town.

I will be still splittiin wood on my homemade splitter. unless u wanna deliver a couple thousand miles, I am good for a cord......

The ad I had run a few years ago was a bit different. Same info, but was just a "here's the info" type of ad more so. I thought adding a bit of light humor would be a bit more effective. I'm just running in on Sundays to save on cost ($200 a month vs everyday would be about $2000) and so I'm not completely flooded with orders to the point where I have to pretty much turn off my phone.

Maybe have the old guy say "The Only Wood I Have To Work Up Now, is The Kind That Benefits from my Viagra prescription" or something like that, people will be entertained and not forget your commercial.
