I just installed a Barometric damper on my flue of my Caddy. I know I am suposed to have .04-.06" WC. But how do I test it? I talked to a HVAC guy tonight and he was scratching his head on how he would take the reading.

I do have a meter that reads WC in .01 incraments, but I am scratching my head on how to get a reading from my stove.

You need about a 1/4 inch hole where the flue exits the furnace, before the damper. You then insert a copper tube, or something that will stand the heat and take your measurements there with an inclined manometer. You want to set the furnace on a full burn that way its correct. I'm sorry but if hes an hvac guy he should know how to use a manometer.

If you don't mind me asking, what made you decide to install the damper? Was the draft to strong or too weak, or just some other reason? Please advise, thanks

He said he uses them, but for measuring gas.

I was getting way to much draft.

The manual does call for the BDR to be installed.
