Sick Persimmnon

Have a maybe 25 yr old tree in west Ala that has never had any fruit to my knowledge. For the last 4/5 yrs it has started sheding limbs and now most of the major limbs on one side are dead. I wonder if I could do a super prune job similar to some of these power line clean up jobs or just cut it and forget it. Also wonder why this tree never had any fruit. There is one about 300 yds from it that looked like it had a half pickup load of persimmons last fall.

Look for a restriction of the sap flow on the declining side, girdling root you may find.

sounds like symptoms from a girdling root.
dig on the root flare on the same side where the dead branches are.
