One Down, Two To Go

If anyone has a lead on the other 2 copies of "Sometimes A Great Notion", I

would like to track them down. There are some people that would like to see

them and it would be nice to get them circulating again. I don't really want

to wade thru the old threads, I'm lazy I guess.

Many Thanks'

Rob

Yes, one of three (like 7 of nine) is in the mail to you now. Media mail, may take a week or so. Good condition film for a rental VHS, or at least when I watched it last. It has been through a few VHS machines since then.

You might want to tickle the old thread again looking for it. May come up on people's radar. I missed your second thread until someone PM'd me about it. I also thought that the one I had was a 4th copy circulating, as there was some confusion as to what was what. Or who had what.

Maybe start a library checkin/out thread? Stickey?

I sent 2 emails to what looks to be the last ones to have it in the old thread. They don't post much anymore so may be a loss.......

I saw the movie on the big screen when it first came out. I'd moved up to the PNW, trying to get a logging job....and was a greenhorn. Scored a job out of Ketchican working high lead and logging straight to the water. Only lasted 3 weeks, then went back to landscaping. 3 years later, I became a tree guy--1975.

Wanna see the movie again! I read the book as well, it was great too!

Rob, I have one of the copies. The tape/packaging came from W. Monette in Parish, NY and inside is a manilla envelope with YOUR return address on it. I can pass it on to who ever you'd like.

Apologies for dropping the ball.
We watched it a few times in the last several months and it's great....

John

2 Found one to go

No sweat guy;
Canyonangler had sent it to him before you got it(I'm wading thru old threads)

Smobody mentioned the possibility of a stickey for loaning tapes and such(books, tools ect.) So maybe we'll try that'.
Thanks again. If you could just send it to my address.

It's interesting to note that the author of "Somtimes a Great Notion", Ken Kesey
also wrote, "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest." His first book. Ken Kesey was born and lives in Oregon. He obviously knew about the lumbering industry. The only other book he wrote prior to 79 was "Kesey's Garage Sale."

That's a good read John.
Found this very interesting.
While at Stanford, he participated in government-funded experiments involving chemicals at the psychology department to earn extra money. These chemicals included psilocybin, mescaline, and LSD. This experience fundamentally altered Kesey, personally and professionally. While working as an orderly at the psychiatric ward of the local VA hospital, Kesey began to have hallucinations about an Indian sweeping the floors. This formed the basis for Chief Bromden (for "broom") in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, his writing project at Stanford.

At this time, Kesey lived at Perry Lane, a bohemian community in Palo Alto, where he became notorious for throwing parties in which certain chemicals mysteriously found their way into the punch.

041 if you need a copy PM your address and I'll burn one.Have it on my hard drive. Hard to lose that way.
