Can anyone tell me the differences between the STIHL 045 SUPER II and the STIHL 045 PRO 5? 20160825_151532.jpg 20160825_151606.jpgMostly wanting to know if the engine displacement and horse power are the same. Both are great runners and seem very powerful. I don't see to many of these saws badged like this. Any information would be much appreciated thanks.

I think the pro 5 was 52mm 81cc vs the super II at 54mm 87cc.

I wasn't aware that there was 2 bar oil passages. I'm not super knowledgeable about 045's but looking at the IPL I only see one. Maybe a pic would clarify things?

AT the end of the scrench. There's a plastic cap with a hex head top to unscrew the cap. The starter side has the normal bar oil cap. If you take both off you can see clear through to the other side. I was thinking maybe its just an access point to to change a bad oil line.

I've seen a PRO 5 decal in Oregon at a dealership where they keep a nice Stihl collection that all run too.
I own an 045 Super but have not seen the super II decal on any saws, yet. I will keep watching for things like that, as usual. Can't help but keep looking for more saws.
I believe the 045 Super is 87cc.

I got that info from @SawTroll in another thread. They both seem to be a mystery.

According to two "all" model listings I once got, that originates from Stihl:

- The 045 Pro 5 was made 1974 to 1980, was 81 cc with 5 hp (it doesn't say any decimal), and the weight was listed as 9.0 kg.

- The 045 Super was made 1977 to 1980, was 87 cc with 6.1 hp, and the weight was listed as 9.1 kg.

I don't know which other differences the were between those models

What those lists doesn't tell is how long the original 75 cc 045 was made, just that it came out in 1972 - and of course all 045 models were replaced by the 056 ones in 1980.

It is listed with 4.7 hp and 8.4 kg.

So, we can at least assume that from 1972 to 1980 that the 045 (75cc) was made? Does anyone know for sure? I'd like to know.

I have a usually reliable German listing as well (the others are from Stihl USA), that is assembled by a major German collector - and that list is saying 1972 - 1980.

OK, thanks SawTroll. I wonder how many 045's Stihl built during that time? Obviously is was a very good saw to sell for that long of a period.
