I'd go with 24 or 28" bar. Light weight bars are nice but kinda pricey if you bend 1.

The stihl ES light bars are pretty ridgid , and if your dealer likes you they arent a whole lot more than a regualr ES..i can get a 28" light for 105 bucks..the balance is spot on with a 460

Finally figured out how to post these pictures. Stopped after work to give it a try. Put a 24 inch bar on and cut up some dry mulberry. Wow! I didn't think the chain was all that sharp as I had cut up a trailer load of chinese elm before. It went through the mulberry like a hot knife through butter. I think it is a keeper!
That is a nice size bar for that saw. If U want to make it run a little stronger (U will notice the difference) put an HD-2 filter on it, a DP muff cover, and either remove or drill holes in the muffler baffle. Also, if UR carb has the limiters, remove them and make the tune a little richer. Always tune by ear, but often with those modifications 1/16 turn richer on each screw is about right.

It does have hd_2 filter. I was looking at dp muffler today as well. I think it does need to be richer on the high speed side, but it does run and cut really good.

I think that may be even better then a MS460
Just tune the saw accordingly there is no standard amount of turns , it would depend on where the saw was tuned to begin with , if it was rich you may not even have to adjust your mixture..get a tach..set it for refrence and your ready to roll.

A lean saw will run strong. Make sure it 4 strokes when not in the cut.

I think the early 046s were better, and the latter ones were just the same. I ran my 046 and my brother's 460 back to back, and you could not tell the difference.

I would been smiling like a possum & told him I will takem like that all day long for 3-1/2 tell me when I need to be there to pickem up. Great score there. I would rather not have the flippy caps anywho so that's worth more to me than a 460.
