Purchased a Stihl FS130 Trimmer a few months back and have been having a problem when using the Stihl chisel tooth blade, where the powerhead twists on the shaft due to the torque. The twisting stops once the throttle cable is pulled tight around the shaft. Being new, I’ve returned it to the dealer 4 times now but am still having this problem. They even replaced the shaft and clamp. This is a great running machine and except for the twisting we are very happy with it.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix for it? They’ve offered a refund but we are otherwise very happy with this trimmer and would prefer to have this problem fixed.

You might try Greensforum.com, Darin's lawn site. Has a sponsor box up top. You should have better luck over there. Dont think to many guys use trimmers over here!

The dealer ended up using a green colored Loctite product on the clamp which fixed the problem. 5 years later now and we have never had another problem with this machine. The only thing I would recommend is buying the model with the handlebars. Purchased a second FS130 with handlebars this time (The origional was an FS130R) and it is so much nicer to use and easier on your back.
