Just wondering . . . do you have to be a dealer to get this kind of info? I've heard that you can email Stihl about an individual number, but it takes a while to get an answer.

You have to be able to log onto a dealer's "portal" to access the Stihl dealer site, if your local Stihl guy put's his password on the same list as his phone numbers, one could use that info..........

It always amazes me how much information Stihl has buried into that serial number. Every digit and the combination of digits means something. We used to all it encryption and that's what it is today.
