Supporting the bar nose

Logosol's M8 doesn't support the bar nose, but the majority of CSM's do. If I'm doing logs under 15", do I really need to support the nose, or will it not make much difference?

It won't make much difference at 15" or even a bit more than this.

I run a 24" bar on my M8. I did do a mod to add a bar support but it was a real pain in the ... when it came time to swap out the chain. It didn't make enough of a difference to the cut quality to keep using it.

I run a 24" on my M5 and see no need for a support

I run a 36" on my M7, and once the cut starts there is no need for any bar support, in fact I havent seen any difference in the cuts between an 18" bar and the 36" one, just on the "big" stuff the lifting lines creak a lot more
