TreeStuff.com is announcing our Spring Tree Climbing Class for 2009. The event will take place in Indianapolis on Saturday, March 28th. The cost is only $20. We are trying to keep the cost low in the hopes that many of you will be able to participate, including those from outside Indiana.

The class will be taught by Rich Hattier of Anchor Bridge Ropeworks. Rich is an ISA Certified Arborist and Certified Climber Specialist, while also being a Certified Splicer. He has competed at climbing competitions for 13 years and now assists in running the competitions for many ISA state and regional chapters across the nation.

More details and registration info can be found here. Should be a really good time.

When ya comin' to New York.

I'm assuming this is not an advanced class... Do you offer any sort of certification for passing this course? I might be interested if I could beef up the resume a bit.

The class will be broken up into two sessions. Three hours on basic topics and three hours of more advanced stuff. We are applying for CEUs and the like.

As far as certification - no. Although, I suppose we could make something up. Isn't that what every other organization essentially does? Take the class and become a Certified Tree Genius. Or something.

There ya go! I'm not sure how the CEU's work, my partner got his ISA cert, but we might be interested in sending him out there if the CEU's are applicable. Let me know.

Yes, I believe the ISA's CEUs are universal (as opposed to state-by-state).

We will definitely be applying for CEUs for ISA Certified Arborists and I imagine for their Climbing Specialist credential as well. I'll keep you updated on this process.

Is there a class size limit?

There is no class size limit. If we get a lot of attendees (40+) Rich will bring an extra instructor or two. We'd love to have that problem.

Seriously, if someone wants to bring their entire company we can handle it. In fact, I'd encourage it...

I just got back from this class a couple of hours ago.

About a 4 hour drive for me but I would do it again. The class was great.

Rich is a knowledgable instructor and presents the information very well. It was nice to see someone elses way of climbing in person, there are some things that are lost in pictures and printed word

Stopped by the store after the class to pick up a few things and I have to say, I would go broke if that place were a closer drive. Quite the selection in stock.

I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!!

Thanks Luke for sponsoring the class and thanks Rich for doing it!!

Big thanks to you for making the drive. I am thrilled the weather held off for the most part.

Rich gave us lots of good info in a short amount of time. I am hopefully going to be editing and posting some of the footage I shot. Will put a link on AS when and if some of it is useable...

Thanks again!
