I'm looking for some input on the health of this tree, based on the picture I've provided. I understand that this type of tree (Water Oak) grows relatively quickly, and tends to die even faster, but these cross-sections look fairly healthy to me. Keeping in mind that I live in a hurricane-prone region, do you think that it was a timely decision to cut this tree down?
Thank you in advance for the input.

welcome to AS Adam. looks like a fairly healthy tree. i do see what looks like some rot in the piece in the right hand corner of your pic. it's hard to tell without seeing the tree standing before the cut. did it have dead branches on it? also what was the reason your landlord took it down?
