If someone can sell me or tell me where to buy the synthetic ultra that would be a great help. None of the dealers around me stock it in anything bigger than those little mix bottles that make 2.5 gallons. They will not order the gallon for me cause they have to buy it by the case and are afraid they will not sell it all. I hate using those little bottles so any help would be appreciated. If I had to I suppose I would bye it by the quart if that is even possible. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

None of the dealers for 30 miles either way have any ultra here. It seems they all had it at one time but it wasnt a big seller because of the cost. My dealer said he could get me a case in 2 months when he places his 100 case order . On parts orders he is the same way typically its 4 weeks before the order is sent. It takes so long to get anything repaired some people buy a new one because of the immediate need.

    Mix question

My friend in Florida was buying mix oil for his blower and wanted enough for a gal of gas. The mix bottles that make 2.5 gal. were on sale for less than the cost of the smaller bottles, so he went to buy it and planned on using part of it at a time. The repair guy talked him out of it, saying that the oil is not homogenious enough to split it, he claimed he got a lot of repairs on equipment where people had tried to do that. Was he just full of crap, or is this true? I could see people not getting the ratio right, but that's not what he was talking about. Does the mix oil seperate?

My dealer has several gallons on the shelf, and he marked the price down to move them. If interested, let me know and I can give you the contact info.

I'm no expert on the subject but I would say he is full of crap and was probably trying to make an extra buck. If that was the case their would be a big warning and they would not sell it by the gallon jug and 5 gallon bucket. I mean even as bad as I sometimes think I am I would struggle carrying a 50 gallon gas can in the woods, not to mention what a 250 gallon gas can would do to me. Shew, I don't even want to think about filling up my saw from one of those new EPA friendly pour spouts hooked to a 250 gallon can. :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Seems like if oil settled like that then inside a big motor it would do the same and be a problem.

I think it's nonsense, too, but I bet some of us will give the oil jug a quick shake next time we decant out a batch of mix oil.

    Funny how that is....

I asked about it at a local dealer and he said that "It wasn't a good idea to convert to synthetic because the saws were having problems!" He does not stock any synthetic.

I've never seen it at my local dealer, I need to ask next time I am there. All they carry is the Stihl universal in the squeeze bottle and the small orange bottles for 1 and 2 1/2 gallon mix.
