I was so excited my father in law gave me some small hickory I could chunk up for the grill. This is what I found in every round I cut. Still gonna cook with. These borers are devastating. Dang creepy looking too.

Some kind of longhorn beetle (no Asian Longhorn Beetle, that is causing concern in a few spots). Relatively "normal" in dead wood.
