Work bench in the woods

After spending much time sitting on the ground working on my saws while in the woods, I came up with this setup for using my trailer to bring my work up to a comfortable level. I used an old shelf and attached two pieces of2X4's to keep it from sliding around.

Now put a vice on it.

I keep the vice in the garage. I do all of my cutting on my own land. I do have spare chains in the tool box if the need arises.

Good idea with the dish soap squirt bottle for the bar oil. no need to haul a funnel around.

I also use a piece of plywood and either the back of my tailgate or a wheel barrel. Beats the heck out of working on your knees.

Truthfully I can't claim it was "my" idea.... I borrowed (and modified) the idea from a table granddad made that he set across the gunwales of his fishing boat.
He kept it from sliding around by drilling a couple holes in it, dropping pins through them and into the oarlock sockets.
Darn thing worked like a charm for riggin' lines, unhookin' fish, the occasional reel repair (or unsnaggling), eating lunch, and so forth... even playing checkers on a slow fish day.

LOL Granddad was the master at working smarter, not harder... he had home made "stuff" to make near anything "more easier".

It's a good day when you can recall good memories from time spent with you granddad. He would be proud of how his idea continues to spread to other interests, like firewood.

I must be a funnel moron, or they're too high-tech for me... every time I use a funnel to fill anything I over-fill it and spill crap all over.

That is why I use a squeeze bottle--to keep the bar oil where it belongs

You use that for bar oil? That is what I use for my gas/oil mix.

because SOME saws..put that cap,,in the damnest place......
