Oak boring worms caught on film..er..pixels.

Took down a 25"Dbh Red oak yesterday, that got the crap scortched out of it 5 years ago while burning brush during clearing.

I noticed during splitting that there were pinholes in the upper half of the spar where the Burn was half healed, and all the way to the heartwood and figured it was a good thing I got it outta there.

I never figured to get lucky and get a cross section split and catch the little larvae sleeping off thier belly full of my Oak tree.

Can anybody name the little darlings?

    Stay safe!

I've seen the holes a lot, but I've never noticed anything significant - not like serious termite damage. Anyone seen a bad case of worms? Uh, in the wood that is - not in your dog or kid.

    Ice fishing bait....

if you got ice that is.....I did use an axe to chop a hole last year...thought the ice was thinner than it was. Turned out to be 16 inches.....but I made it through.
