Never enough time in the day

Got home from work today after working on simulator trailer air conditioning units, kept working on the deck I'm putting on the house, my next side job in the back of my mind and waiting for the vinyl siding to show up so that can go on the house after the deck. I look over towards the driveway and see the big pile of blocks that is to be next years firewood all cut and ready to split, the same way they have been for the last two months since they've been cut, go into my shop to grab my four foot level and look at the project saw I just picked up all in pieces and just dieing to have more work done on it. Walk out of my shop and look towards the hay field, there goes June and most of July. Lets not forget the tree stand hanging and deer season trail cutting just waiting to be done.
In the middle of all of this my 2 and a half year old son and my 18 month old daughter are playing in the yard with mommy as she keeps picking up the yard after my many projects, makes for a great scene. Every once in a while, we all need to sit back and enjoy these small moments in our busy lives. I see that most of the guys and girls here at Arboristsite are in the same boat. Wouldn't have it any other way, it makes the down time all that much more enjoyable.

Great post. In the middle of all the shtuff we are backed up on all of the time, it's good to remember what's really important. Loyalty. Family. Honesty. Compassion.

Same here: we had some remodeling done in the basement I need to finish the painting and trim work, but there's a grapple load of oak/maple/cherry that I bucked and piled up and now need to split. I also got an unexpected few cords of red oak from a neighbor added to the mix that needs to be split.

I managed to get a few wheel barrows split last night after work, so that was satisfying. And, the night before, finally got my Stihl 050/051AV project saw put back together and, even though it was 10 at night, I had to squirt some fuel into the carb to see if she fired up...it did and most importantly, it kept running!

So, progress is incremental, but there are some brief moments of glory. Hopefully I can get the 050 in some wood this weekend and grab some video.

My wife gives me subtle reminders every now and then that I can't work on projects all the time. Always seems like something else needs fixing or doing.

I finally finished clearing and hauling home the wood from my Sister's house last night. Should be able to pick up the last two loads of wood from my Father in laws house. So for me I finally have some closure for two ongoing projects. All in all I have 9 cords cut, split, stacked so far. Another cord and a half left to go of hardwood. Once that is done 4-5 more cords of pine and then I am done with firewood for a year.

Next project is the new lawn and a sand box for my baby girl... It never ends

    Have a good day!

    "Take the day off!"

My back was tweaked last Sunday and I sat in my chair all day, while my back felt better I felt like I wasted a day.

I am so glad spring is here and Its dry enough now i can work on some projects.

I got 5 cords of hardwoods stacked and seasoning as we speak. that has been my main project since the begining of march.

I have many projects that I could do but of course $$$ is my main factor.

However my buddy is stripping metal off a couple of old chicken houses and Im keeping all the 4x8 sheets of styrofoam insulation. so my big project for the summer is to insulate and sheethe the walls in my pole barn.

ive got like sixty sheets of insulation so far. at ten bucks a sheet thats like 600 bucks im saving on insulation

heck yea man. ive been waiting for a deal like that forever! I gave an ass load of insulation away when i was remodeling an old grocery store. As much remodeling that goes on i new I could score some if I just was patient and waited

Its not the prettiest insulation in the world, but if your sheething over it with plywood, who cares!!

I wish you lived closer. theres plenty to go around. its just laying there for the taking.

I cant wait to see how much warmer the woodstove will make the shop w/ insulated walls.

I find myself working every day all day long. I just can't seem to sit still. I would go and help other prople if I didn't have anything to do. I even worked two full time jobs for 19 years and then it happened, I had two heart attacks at the young age of 39. My dad stepped in and told me that there was work to be done on this earth before I was born and that there would be work long after I was gone and that I could never get it all done. THe doctor said that if I didn't slow down that I wasn't long for this old world so I took their advice and it was hard at first but 8 years later I have learned to watch the grandchildren grow and play and to spend more time relaxing with the family at it is well worth it. So to all the fellows who work every minute of the day you need to stop and take some time to enjoy this old world while you can.
