what do you guys think of the tw3 hd splitter? i have a larger diesel tractor 50 hp at the pto so thats not an issue. the tractor does not use alot of fuel. i want to be able to do 100 plus cord a year. what do you think a used tw3 hd would be worth?

Depends on what "used" is defined as. TW makes a great machine but if the thing had the snot beat out of it and wasn't maintained then you're just buying a bag full of some one else's headaches. If it's in decent shape you're probably looking at 75-85% of what a new one would cost.

I bought a used tw3 hd tonight. This site sure has cost me a lot of money. In the past 18 months i have bought two new saws, wallenstein 3 point winch, and now this splitter. The splitter was owned by an older home owner splitting his own wood. He bought it new. It needs the oil and filter changed and some touch up paint. I picked it up for $2000. It has a four way wedge, table, and log lift. I will post some pictures in the morning.

That looks like a nice machine that hasn't seen much use. It's a PTO hydraulic pump I assume?

Is that the 340 on it? How does it handle that much weight way out back? My splitter was originally made as a 3pt machine, but had a hitch and wheels added. I'm guessing someone either wanted to use it on a tractor without the 3pt, or it was too dang heavy to really be handy on the back.

Looks like you did pretty good. Since everything else is plumbed, look into adding the cylinder to make the 4 way adjustable. You won't be disappointed.

WOW! A TW 3 with a hydro lift, table grate and 4 way for 2k is a major score in my opinion. Rep on the way.

Damn right nice purchase !!!
I replaced all the bolts/pins that were on the log lift and lift cylinder on my TW7 when I picked it up just 'because'. They were sloppy.

yes it is a international 340. it does fine with the weight it has front weights as a counter balance and i put a log under the h beam on the splitter. the hydro pump is a prince 1a 21 or 22 gpm pto pump. im going to replace the pins on the log lift as well due to the slop. how fast should the log lift raise and lower? it is very quick almost too quick. it throws the log. is there any way to slow it down or adjust it? today a buddy and i split alittle more than 3 full cord with it in around 3 hours. im very happy with it. timberwolf makes a very good product.

Take the bottom fitting out of the lift cylinder, braze it up and drill a 3/32 hole thru it. That should get you in the ball park, and will do the same as buying a restrictor/flow control.

Nice score on the splitter BTW!
