    Log splitter hydraulics quit!??

After using the search function for several hrs today, with no success, I'm ready to ask you professionals.
While using my brave 22ton, 5hp briggs yesterday, the cylinder seemed to slow down, then NOTHING.....nada. Engine runs but no response in the hydraulics. Does have a slight rattling in the pump.
I figured the pumps broke, could it be anything else to check?
Also, would a 16gmp pump do with this setup?
    What to do?

No oil flow will make one slow up & then stop. If it has a suction screen in the tank, it could be plugged. Or, once I saw one that a hose had seperated on the inside & blocked the suction.

Sorry for the delay in response guys, too busy to mess with the splitter.

    Beerman6 & others were correct.

Next question - How do you remove an old coupling from the shaft?
The keys could not be removed, tried PB blaster, torch, nada - no way. finally drilled the keys out so square bushings underneath can be tapped out.
But how do you get the coupling off the shaft?
    Thanks in advance!

My pump has 1/2" shaft. You will need a smaller 2 or 3 jaw gear puller; that has a 1/2" or smaller bolt.

Gear pullers can be found at TSC, Ruralking, Geebo's, Harbor Freight and Sears.

Bolt will go on end of shaft. Jaws will go below lovejoy(closest to pump).

Lube shaft, lovejoy and key with PB Blaster.

Remove set screws from lovejoy. They will go through side of lovejoy to key.

Slowly tighten center bolt in gear puller. Lovejoy will slowly (at first) Towards you. When it gets real easy, should be able to pull lovejoy rest of way off shaft by hand.

Banging, prying, heating will probably damage pump.

Sorry; not trying to talk down to you. Just don't know how familiar you are gear and pulley removal.

Fixbix, thank you for the knowledge, borrowed a puller from a neighbor and the shaft is soaking in PB awaiting easy removal!!

Figured the banging wouldnt help, my hats off to any of you gear/grease junkies, I'd rather be up a tree any day!!
    Thanks again
