Does any one have a problem with starting there 361?

Quite a way to introduse yourself to the forum. Welcome anyway.
The problem is that the muffler makes the saw so quiet that your missing the pop when it's on choke and you're flooding it. A muffler mod will take care of that as well as give you quite a bit more power.

What he said. 3-4 pulls on full choke then click the lever up. It should start pretty quick from there. Mine usually takes a little longer to start up because I drain the fuel and I don't use it that much. It takes a minute for it to get going but once its warmed up its fine.

Yep. Also if you use the decomp valve, it will close back up on the 'pop' brad is talking about. Once it pops, bring the switch up one position, do not keep pulling.

Yup I've had a thousand of calls about those issues. After some in veste gation we found 999 didn't know how to start a chainsaw in the 1st place.

Doesn't surprize me at all Spike. I bet I get at least a 100 flooded saws come in every year with the owner raising hell there's something wrong with that dayummm thing. Easiest way to catch em is look to see if the choke is still on when they bring it in. If it is the fun begins right there...

361's tend to have a strong character.
Saw is only showing you that it doesnt want to work for you.

Yup, and sometimes the muffler is still wet with fuel. Part of this is that people can't hear the saw pop because they have their ear protection on before they start it. Also, an awful lot of people choke a warm saw. Some of it is because they are dummies, but some of it is due to the on/off controls on some of the saws. Sometimes people inadvertently go past "on" to "choke".
You might want to hold off on building that yamaha bike saw till you get this choke and idle thing figured out

HAHA I must be a DIPSH*T, but I'v had the saw for like 4 years and never had this problem. New plug, fuel lin, and rebuilt the carb.

Do a pressure/vac test on the saw. Then you'll know if your problem has anything to do with the carb...

For real...my 044 is 14 years old and never had the carb rebuilt.

What I did like about the 361 is its starting effort.
Just look at the 361 and think time for work, the dam thing starts all by itself.
and if your not careful it will jump in the truck before you get your boots on.

If you don't know what your doing keep your hands off, you'll pizz it off and it will never run again.
I hate my MS361 but Saturday I found the thing in the front seat of my truck rev-in to go, G-dam thing was drooling all over the place with excitement.
