Had a large red oak die just beside my drive way. Problem was it was right beside the power line that goes back to my house. Many large limbs were overhanging the lines and the only clear way to fall it was toward the power lines. I called the utility company to come look at it and they agreed it was a hazard to the lines and agreed to cut it down. Said they would bring a big bucket truck that could reach 75 ft and whittle it down. That was around the last of June; today the tree trimmers came.
After they had removed all the top and had it shortened to where it would fall in a direction away from the lines, the foreman pulled another saw out of the tool bin of his truck: it was an MS361 with at least a 30" bar, maybe longer. He had a bigger one in the truck I think I remember it was maybe a Stihl 660?, but he didn't use it.
He cut the tree down about thirty inches above the ground and then asked if I wanted the stump shorter, and I said yes, and so he proceeded to cut off the stump. I bet that stump was 36" at the place he cut it off. What impressed me was that 361 never bogged down one time, even with the weight of the stump on the bar. It's a powerful saw. All the saws they had were Stihls, by the way.
I'm still happy with my 346XP, but if I had to use one for a living I'd have one of those too.
