Careful now, handling that Husky trimmer could be harmful to your health. You might realize that it doesn't run on batteries and accidentally cut your foot off. :)

All echo engines have a durability rating of 300 like the commercial stihl saws.

The stihl fs45, 46 have 50 hour durability ratings.

The MS390 has 150 durability rating where the MS361 is 300 hour durability rating, on the stihl front.

How come only the professional Stihl equipment has 300 hours and all the homeowner Stihl stuff has 50 to 150 hour rating.

And I will repeat all echo pe has 300 hour durability?

What a dumb:censored: the rating is not a durability rating but a epa compliance rating

what MOW said...

And.... saw makers negotiate with the EPA for the LOWEST compliance hours ... if an echo saw gets pulled within the 300hr run time and fails emissions, they pay though the nose... Stihl negotiated "2 years"...

I specialize in the EPA/C.A.R.B... I am a engine guru, However, I am a compliance specialist. It is a durability rating for emission related components.

I live and breath all engine related information. I LOVE giving speeches. I am a rare bird as a trained technician.

Most technicians when you get them in the room will not even speak up. I love to public speak about everything in the engine industry. The economy is tough, but I still book speaking events.

I forgot more about engines, EPA and C.A.R.B than most people know about engines!!! That comment was very rude.

My wife was born in Texas too. I met her in Dallas.

hahahaah, new Guy just made MOW and the Stihl leg-humpers his little b*tch...I love it!!

Rep for the new guy...He just proved what ive been preaching since I got here.

Echo is the only manufacturer that has the Highest Emmission Compliance/Durability rating, for ALL its powerheads, Not Stihl, Husky, Dolmar, Tanaka, Poulan, etc can come CLOSE to saying that.

The comment that manufacturers get the EPA to give them the lowest rating they can so if one comes back before then, they get crapped on is pure BS. Echo isnt worried, ECHO doesn have to worry. If you build em right, build ALL of em right, you dont have to worry about that problem.

As it says in our shop...Not all manufacturers build to last...Get with the one that is devoted to a long life of reliable, trouble free work. ECHO And we say that becasue it's true.

Emmisions go up when the motor begins to lose efficiency, the longer the motor reamins efficient, the longer it will remain compliant. Echo says ALL of their powerheads will remain compliant for no less than 300 hours.

So STIHL was worried. They apparently had efficiency problems before the test period was up, and didnt want to get fined...So instead of fixing a flaw...they took the easy way out. They left an inferior piece of equipment in production, and took a hit on durability...

Stihl #1...in duping the customers.

Here in Norway, at least where I live all the old farmers has Jonsereds. And they are beaten up, full off cracks broken handels repaired with Macgyver tape and they run year after year.

For me J-red IS the nicest looking saw (Red & Black:clap: ) think my 2152T has good PW ratio and good torque and I never had a problem with it.

It's often the dealer that destroys a brand:givebeer:

Oh please.

Jonsered was so awesome, so great, that their own design tanked, they had to get bought out by Husqvarna to stay afloat...jonsered = Husky. Jonsered = husky with different covered.

"TURBO = Air Injection"

Enjoy your Rebadged Husky's. At least ECHO is, and will always will be their own brand, theyt manufacture their parts, they assemble them, and proudly put their name on them.

And it isnt just the saws..It's the whole Godforsaken linup...Trimmers, brushcutters..etc..I had a customer bring me his POS J-red brushcutter, complaining how it was hard to start...I was telling him it was rare to see one of those trimmers in Red cladding. He looked confused to I pulled out a Husky Trimmer of a similar model and layed next to it, he was dumbfounded...He told me he hated Husky stuff.

People dont even realize what they have anymore...It's like Genius' that think Craftsman makes their own saws...

HUH?? Jonsered being a husky in red plastic is BAD???

When echo builds a saw in man size come back and talk.

Stickers don't mean much. My brother picked up an FS45 and an FS46 from a yard service company on trade in. The company told him they had at least 2000 hours each on them. They both ran great even though the stickers had rotted off long ago, the guy just figured it was time to replace them. He kept the 45 and gave me the 46. I don't live and breathe Stihl like most of the folks around here but their equipment runs great for a long time.

The funny part was the guy who runs HD lives next to my brother. In one year he went through a few of his own echo's. He finally came over and checked out the old beat to $h!t FS45 my brother has. He thought that echo was the best you could buy for some reason(???). He ended up picking up a Stihl from my brothers shop.

I guess the moral of the story is, you can put what ever you want on a sticker if you have a crappy warranty service.

Weekend's heeah, let's have a can of beeah!

Intense thread...here's a little greeting from Santa to make all you kids of any age feel better about your choices in outdoor power equipment!
Thank God I'm a plumber!

j-Red

I don't care if the J-Red 2171 is the same saw as the 372 husky, it still cuts wood better than any echo. If you would rather compare husky to echo be my guest but we all know that only homeowners with 50ft extension cords and a few Norway Maples and apple trees to trim run echos.
