My brother was going to get a husky 359 for a firewood saw but is now going with a jonsereds 2159 because of dealers , is there any differences we should be aware of or are they pretty much the same ????

They are both the same but the Jred has the better handle bar. I have always thought Jred makes the better looking saw. Check and make sure the 2159 has the standard muffler, some came with a cat.

I thought in a picture I saw that the jred handle looked straight and I was surprised they changed them from the husky version !! I was very skeptical when I saw the slanted handle for the first time on the huskys !! I thought why in the world did they do that !! But somehow when your using the saw it handles great and you don't even no its slanted !!! I guess you could call that there ergonomic handle !!!!!!

:agree2: The handlebar is what keeps my away from newer Jonsereds.

Sawtroll , I take it you like the husky version !!! would the husky handlebar fit the jred ??

Personally I think the Husky "slant" is a very good idea. It just feels better. Much more natural. Being able to compare two saws of the same displacement and weight, I have to give the nod to my 346 over the 260 for all day cutting comfort. (and I really do like my 260!)But........

I see you keep knocking the handle bar on the Husky's. I know that you bleed cream and orange and that's fine but I wonder if you have ever had the opportunity to do the same so that you could give an objectional view as I have.

Well, I have ran a 272xp, 346xp, 350, 141, 2171, 385xp and like the handle bar on a Stihl much better. My handle bar comments are from reading what others say and to kick Troll in the nads.:D I could care less what shape the handle bar is, many others like the Jred version when compared.:dizzy:

LOL!!!! Love the Troll comment:) Like I said though, I actually find the slant to be an improvement when running your saw all day long. And that's exactly where I'm headed right now! Off to get my dose of two-stroke exhaust.

Most people that choose Jonsered over the comparable Husky do so for the handlebar. We find it more ergonomic as it keeps the wrist in a more natural position when working. The Husky handlebar can be slightly easier to carry, though.

I've always felt the Husky handlebars were more about saving weight and holding down materials cost. Jonsered goes for ergonomics, and this is true for Stihl as well, as they don't have as severe an angle as does Husky.

Since we are going to nit pic here and get on troll's case:hmm3grin2orange:
Here is a few more reasons for Red&Black,They don't get sunburned as bad and every one knows that Husky's are only made on Friday's and Monday's.
Or at least I herd that some where:monkey:
Oh because the last reason the paper specs on the 2159 are higher than the 359. 4.1hp vrs 3.9 for the 359.
Just having some fun here today! This is like a oil thread but in a fun not so serious way.
I should mention that my Dolmar 7900 the Handel is bent! it feels funny and I do prefer a straight handle but you get used to it. But the saw is so light powerful. I think the Dolmar orange is closer to red?

You got that all wrong my friend - Husky sure is the ergonomics brand, and has been for a long time - even though (at least newer) Stihl and Dolmar handlebars also are much better than than the Jred ones.:clap:

I asked my dealer about the power difference in those saws probably 3 or 4 years ago (it was before I joined AS for sure) and he wasn't sure but the brochure he had listed the 2159 at higher RPM's than the 359. I had that brochure for quite some time but must have thrown it out. I think it must have been a misprint because I can never find any evidence of the RPM difference.

Ah more paper numbers! Take a look at the Canadian Jred web page they might still have it posted. But really how can one saw make more power if it has the same motor? Shall we say 2153 vr 346ne?
Just pic a colour you like and a Handel bar they are the same thing! except husky's are made when the workers at the plant don't feel like giving 100%:spam:

LOL!! I know they are still both listed at 13,500 rpms in the service manuals. I know what I seen was the 2159 had 500 more max rpms. Not sure if they cut it back at some point which would lower the hp or not. Someone on AS should buy a dyno to test the accuracy of the HP ratings. How about it troll? :)

I believe that was just marketing, before the 2156 finally joined the 357xp - KWF/DLG testing found 2.9kW in both versions.
