I just picked these up from a AS member along wit ha few other saws. The 240 is in very good shape and just needs some starter parts, but the 350 is roached, missing muffler, carb, and clutch cover. My question is, is this 350 worth rebuilding? I am not going to buy new parts if I rebuild it, just looks for a parts saw(s). I don't have much at all into them so I am gonna keep my eye out at the junkyard. I am not to familiar with the Husky's so just figured i'd ask.
From what I heard tho, the 300 series were the pro models. This 350 is from 2000. So I figured with a little time searching, I might beable to add a few good Husky's to my 455 Rancher. Thanks for the tips. View attachment 300919

I've got a 350 that is a real strong runner. If you want to know more about them ask Moody. Just saw a video of him with one, wow!

You got a 3.7 Roper too? I hear those are hard to beat. I have not really messed with mine since I got it. I just replaced a sheared flywheel key and it will still only spark randomly. Guess I will have to clean the points.

The 300 series contained both pro saws, and the better homeowner saws. The 350 is in the last category (likely the best "homeowner saw" ever made. The 240 is far from that, a really crappy homeowner saw, that many dealers simply refuse to sell.

The 350 is alright for a firewood saw if you dont get to much money into it.Muffler bolts are famous for falling out you really have to keep an eye on them .Pretty cheesey choke and on/off switch

You can't beat the 350 platform. And I think this is the video he's referring to. It's a poop chain and 16inch sappy wood. But it did alright for a quick test. But the thread I started about this platform will give you all the information you'll need.

Really? If anything that 350 feels really cheap compared to my 455. That 240 seems solid. Why was the 240 so bad?

Lookey like my saw!  Moody is the 350 saw guru here in my book.

It'll be better when those goodies get here:rock: I'm no guru just a guy with a soft spot for these saws. But thanks for saying that. No matter how much I know about them I learn new stuff all the time.

I know they made several 3.7's. Mine has electronic ignition. I will have to get a picture of it for you. It's a real strong runner, lot's of guts. Also have one for spare parts. Was my first chainsaw 34 years ago and still going strong. Performed right with my cousins 041 Farmboss.

A friend of mine has a 455, we were cutting one day and I let him run my 350 for awhile. He wanted to trade me, I wouldn't do it.

In my book, a 350 is a far better saw than a 455.

I can't help you with the 240, never had my hands on one.

350 will run circles around a 455 in quality and power for half the cash if you know how to set them up

I can't really complain. That 455 was givin to me as a gift for clearing trees. It runs pretty good for a strato saw but is set way to lean for my liking. I need to tear it down one day, bust the limiters off and tune it right. It cuts pretty fast to me because I have been running XL-12s and slower saws like that for most of my time in the woods. But I would like to tune her a little rich so it lasts much longer. It would be pretty cool tho to get that 350 ticking. Would love to see what it can do from what you guys saw. I still would take this 350 in the condition it is right now over a running Stihl around the same size

Ole Ramzilla wanted to get rid of his 350 and well I talked him out of it. He's a Stihl guy but I bet when he gets this 350 back he won't grab an 029 very often.:msp_biggrin:

You won't have to worry about me getting rid of any saws. I can't even bring myself to get rid of a Mini Mac....well....let me think about that for a little bit

340/345/350's can be had not running for cheap. A solid list of parts and you can have something that runs with a 346 and 261 for less than $200 not to mention a few ounces lighter

I was gonna ask you, I am gonna start looking for parts for that. Would the 340, 45, and 50 be the only ones I could use for covers and the carb? Any other model I can rape the cylinder and piston off to make it work?
